I'm also in the really enjoying this series camp, as well as a big fan of Victorique and the sarcastic laugh was great. I think a big part of my enjoyment (other than her) is that for some reason it reminds me a bit of the movie Clue, and anything that even brings back memories of that great movie gets a leg up in my book. If I had to guess Id hazard that spoiler[Both the brunette in the red dress and the maid who shot the old witch woman in ep 1 were survivors of 10 yrs ago, and the brunette was the extra person that moved everyone.]

Odd to hear that it's not as faithful as the novels, but luckily, I haven't read them so I can just enjoy it.

As I thought, the actual mystery became something much deeper. I'm really into the mystery now (though I can kinda guess who the criminal was).

I knew Kujo would end up being a cool MC.

I definitely liked this episode better than the first, but...I still feel like it could be better somehow? I don't know, I'm not attached to the characters yet, and there's still not quite enough suspense for me for whatever reason. The mystery is definitely better now that we're getting to the real heart of it, though.

loved the 2nd episode! It kind of reminds me of Clue but without comedy. I'm sure there is a better reference'then that silly movie but I can't think of any that I have seen.

so far so good the series is looking up was afraid they would rely on supernatural stuff to explain away things which as of episode 2 hasn't happened.

That's an interesting comparison; however, Gosick lacks one key factor: Tim Curry.

(Mental Note: An English dub with Tim Curry - by default - would be awesome.)

Anyways, the second episode kept up my expectations by being very fun for me. I'm not enamored with it. Right now, it sits on just being a really fun show to watch on Friday afternoons.

It's happened! His version of the character was pretty different from the Japanese, but they didn't change plot details for it or anything so it was still a really enjoyable dub. (I just wish they hadn't used dubtitles on the DVD.)

Holy crap! I completely forgot that was him.

For some reason whenever I watch the ending credits and song, I think of Bee Train. But they're not involved in this anime in any way.

This series has had a relatively slow start but episode 3 manages to squeeze quite a bit in. We get a little bit of Victorique's past and some good character development, we get Kujo refusing to play the part of the typical male push-over protagonist spoiler[while brandishing a pair of brass knuckles] which made for some pretty good action.

spoiler[The "deduction" part of this episode was a bit too drawn-out for my taste and I'm always amazed at this plot device used in every medium - you knock a psychopathic axe-wielding killer unconscious and then walk away without restraining him/finishing him off or taking the axe and brass knuckles with you] ...

I'm also a bit confused - if our sexy lady friend spoiler[rebuilt the ship in order to take revenge and she knew the "Hunting Dog"'s trick and temperament , why was it up to Victorique to tell her it was a trick and to run? Really, why didn't she just off the guy when he suggested she throw her weapon?]

I have a feeling this series is going to improve over time; especially being one of the lucky few to be slated for 24+ episodes. Most of the intrigue for me lies with the interaction of our two main characters; if the mystery in this series improves it will be a top-tier title. Actually, were this any other season (looking at you, Fall 2010) this probably would have been a #1 pick for many. Testament to the quality titles this season.

Hmm, now this series is starting to show a lot of improvement. Kujo still sounds like your regular, annoying shounen, but he's actually got some guts (they should have considered another voice actor, or at least he should've made an effort to sound more determined and less boyish). Aoi Yuki sounds more adorable every time I hear her. The story also offers some pretty nice twists.

Well, looking at this season, in my opinion the only competitor is Fractale. Level E and Kore wa Zombie are comedies, and I usually underrate comedy (despite enjoying it a lot), Wandering Son is too serious for heaven's sake (explosion of teen angst as well), Merry is too laid-back, Freezing/IS are fanservice/ generic story, and the rest aren't worth mentioning (looking at you, king of generics, aka Dragon Crisis), including the great Rio Rainbow Gate which is ranked on the bottom 100 of ANN's list. But, agreed, had it been from the Fall it would've easily scored first.

Anyway, enjoyable episode, but I so want to see Victorique rolling on the floor again.
I don't really think this episode improved much (well, perhaps some people's perspective of the series as a whole), since what it did differently was to conclude the arc. It's good to see Victorique's background revealed bit by bit, but that's been happening since episode one.

Question of the week:
Is her dad still alive?

The show is definitely improving. I'm loving the character developments between Kujo and Victorique. And the mystery was decent, I was able to link together information from the previous episode and current episode. Though I didn't expect the "analysis" of the mystery to be what it was. I thought it would just be spoiler[the Ned guy trying to kill everyone. Not the chick in the red dress using her money to get revenge, I'm even sure how she was planning to set revenge.]

As shown, Victorique is quite protective of her pendant, I'm going to assume it was given by a special someone. Oh, and this episode gave off more Victorique cuteness which just makes me smile.

I'm gonna take a guess and say spoiler[It's from her mother, possibly has a picture of her inside. Since we learned this ep that the inspector (obviously) was her brother but that they had different mothers and that her's was the mistress, I would think she was outcast or killed, or had some other type of bad treatment done to her at the birth of Victorique. I'm also going to guess that her father is still alive and will become a sort of pseudo-nemesis of Kujo's (as is intimated in the OP.)]

I've been enjoying this series from the very first episode, and this recent episode raised the bar for the whole show. Atleast for me it did Smile. I'll have to agree with egoist that only Fractale and Level E are the competitors for top of the season along with Gosick. Yet granted with episode 3 fresh in my mind and having not watched episode 2 of fractale yet (geting to that in a hour or so) Gosick is #1. Honestly i havn't enjoyed a show like this since....BGHK or Maid sama probably. It has a masterpiece for me so far.

I really enjoy watching the mutual bond Victorique and Kujo share. It's quickly developing into a much deeper friendship, i can tell Kujo cares deeply for her(not sure the feeling is mutual to that extent). The mystery was also quiet enjoyable to watch unwravel. Ofcourse i never expected it to be so deep and have such implication on the history of the show. spoiler[Going as far as too shape the future of the world they live in, by determing the outcome of a war] is really surprising. Humor... this show has it down perfectly. Not too suddle, but very well timed for a murder mystery show. Lastly i just wana say, i love the ending song Laughing
