Well, this show seems like my go-to for fun. I'm going to echo the beauty of the background art. The setting looks gorgeous, and I find Victorique interesting. Though, chalk me up to the ones that found the initial mystery a bit silly.

And I know I should suspend my belief for fiction when it comes to physics, but every time I see a recoil like that from a gunshot, the tiniest voice in the back of my head shouts the reasons why it is a physical improbability.

this one is hit or miss if they go the way of the Psychodrama with the cases the kids deal with it'll become another tired storyline that kills the series. "we can't actually put together three entire mysteries so lets add the supernatural element and fudge half the story so viewers think its some deep moment!" I can count on one hand the number of series who actually made plausible storyline s in that genre and didn't have to add episodes worth of BS to explain off the mistakes they made along the way.

Hmm I am not quite blown away, but it might because I fear that they might use things like gothic lolita who looks like a doll and make the guy an all too cliche character. But there was promise in some parts, as mentioned when she wanted to take all those bags and he went through them and forced it down to one.

I would see it that if they effectivly apply the character chemistry of Sherlock and Watson that has been hinted at, as well as put it with the standard anime romance, they could have something good. That is show her as being very quirky, smart and maybe her talents do little tricks, yet also being delicate. And Him being the sort of bodyguared with knowledge of the world and proper behaviour, yet he will probably have groundings in normal anime main character behaviour.

I will say this: "I started for the goth loli, but will hopefully continue to watch for the mystery."

I was excited for this show the moment I read about it. I like Bones, I like mysteries, and I don't mind goth-lolis. Victorique is the perfect follow up for Kuroneko. I had the feeling the detective was her brother the moment I saw him. I'll also agree with some others that the opening mystery was a little weak, but I think it was supposed to be. That whole how did the fortune teller get shot charade was just a stepping stone to what seems like a bigger mystery.

In response to someone's comment(sorry I'm too lazy to go look up the person's name), I don't have too much of a problem with Victorique using a pipe while she's deep in thought. I'm currently reading the Sherlock Holmes collection and it reminds me of him. I think her putting a pipe in her mouth is a little homage to Holmes.

Overall this was a pretty good episode and a good start to what might end up as my favorite series this season.

Characters haven't quite capture my complete interest yet though they show potential, and the murder mystery did little for me. The show isn't bad so far, but doesn't seem like anything special yet either. Should get better as it goes on though I figure.

I enjoyed the art style of this show and will keep watching to see where to plots go. This is the second show to have this style of art the other was that magical girl show that i will also be watching this year.

I agree. Hands in the air of how many of you want a kickass pipe, if only to have and not to smoke?
That's what I thought.

The fact of the matter is she's gorgeous, the bloke protagonist is kinda cute but also reminds me of a cooler Yuuji from Shana, and this has the promise to be a really excellent detective/mystery anime. So woot!

Not impressed. So far the only good part of the series is Aoi Yuki's voice, the rest seems to be very generic (especially the male lead), in line with the preview scores. To think that this is made by Bones... but I'll give it a chance. Besides, I've got to adjust for the usual start-of-season mood of cynicism and disappointment, and I think it can deliver some mystery fun later.

If I could point to one example in this episode that shows that Kazuya isn't a complete push-over to Victorique, though, it's that when he starts going through her luggage and forcing her to leave things, she actually goes along with it. And they step off the train with just a single suitcase.

Yes, that was one of my favorite parts of the episode because it showed that the male lead actually does have a spine, and won't just stand up for Victorique (such as when he was upset that the inspector was stealing the credit for solving the case), but will also stand up to her when she's being unreasonable.

I just checked out the first episode--it was a no-brainer for me since I love series set in the 1920s, supernatural mysteries and gothic lolita fashion. (Oh, and Bones. Hard to go wrong with them.)

So far outside of some nice visuals and cute moments from Veronique there hasn't been too much here that's caught my interest--but a lot of my favorite shows had first episodes that weren't that great the first time I saw them. There's nothing in here that's so glaringly bad that I'm going to drop it on the first episode, so I'm definitely sticking around and seeing what happens. At the very least, I like Veronique and the main character's got what might turn out to be an interesting relationship with her.

Oww. What the fudge man. By the time episode 3 gets here all the tension will be gone.

Victorique, awarded for best reaction of the season. Hu hu hu. Also my favorite character so far, and I doubt anyone will take that title. I'm starting to enjoy her voice actress, too. Just marvelous.

I wasn't sure at first, but now I'm pretty confident that this is my favorite so far. Oh, Bones, oh you...

Hey, hey, anyone thought of Umineko?

I'd say it's pretty clear now that a lot of the earlier worries about "weak mystery" were unfounded. The thing with the maid and the keyhole was just an introduction to our characters and the springboard for this arc. Episode 2 saw a substantial jump in quality. This has a lot of potential and is really the first cliffhanger ending of the season... damnit.

And yeah, Victorique's laughs were awesome; Aoi Yuki fits perfectly.

With episode two, Gosick continues to be awful for me. It's such a poor adaption of the novels. I can't believe they've changed parts of the story that didn't need to be changed, and now it's just a horribly written mess. Not only has the plot been altered, but the characters aren't true to the characters in the novel.

I envision myself dropping this show, since I don't want the rest of the books, that haven't been released here yet, ruined.

Also, if you guys don't want the suspense ruined for you, don't watch the episode three preview — it spoils some pretty major moments.

I don't recall Bones being faithful? They're famous for their originals, so lots of modifications should have been expected.

And like I said elsewhere, everything is awful compared to its source (manga, novel). If you're more of an anime fan, I'd recommend just stop reading it.

Well, the episode actually got a lot better with the new mystery. I like how Episode 1's mystery is referenced to this episode. I'm enjoying the mystery (thought it hasn't met my expectations), and it's interesting. I'm loving Victorique's laugh, and how Kujo is protecting her. GOSICK's mysteries aren't really that good so far, but I'm loving the ghost stories incorporated with them.
