Well, now I know what I'm probably going to get with any money I get for Christmas. Very Happy
I also feel a lot better about Strawberry Marshmellow.

Perhaps there is a chance that I will finally be able to read more of The Embalmer. TP did mention that they were looking into alternative ways to release it in a Twitter post a few months ago...Including print-on-demand.

While I like the concept, even on sale this seems a little steep in price. When it is not on sale it's $16 that seems a bit expensive for this.

Considering some OOP titles go for 40+ dollars I don't think $16 is all that bad.

Hmm, I didn't find this feature anywhere in the store. I thought it would be a great way to fill the gaps in my Blame! and Lupin III collections.

This is a brilliant idea, I hope other manga companies start doing print-on-demand for older stuff too. TokyoPop alone though has a lot that I want eventually that is getting harder to find, so putting it this way would be great.

The Embalmer was the first thing I thought of too! I miss all the Mitsukazu Mihara manga that Tokyopop used to publish...

...kinda sad that the shop only has DOLL volumes 1-4 right now. Maybe they'll put up the others later? Maybe? Or maybe R.I.P. or IC in a Sunflower? Needs more Mihara!

But anyway, I'm still totally delighted with RG Veda and parts of Tokyo Babylon. Missed out on buying those and have been kicking myself ever since.

Damn, maybe now they'll finish Satisfaction Guaranteed which they dropped ONE issue before completing.

This would be so much easier if it was possible to dive straight to the on-demand section. Hunting around every TP title collected or finding one of their sky-is-falling cancelation noticies from the last few years just seems like a lot more work than they should be putting us through. Par for the course on their site I guess, considering they even got rid of release dates back in the last great* revision.

*Just to be perfectly clear, great=large or massive, not to be confused in any way shape or form with a mesasure of quality.

Eep, looks like all the new volumes of Gauken Alice are going to be released this way, crud, guess I'd better start saving up for that...

That's definitely the biggest problem for me. I just want to go straight to the print on demand titles. If they can categorize by title and genre, it shouldn't be so hard to create a separate category for print on demand. That aside, I love the idea of print on demand for older titles. I hope they make a lot of their older stuff available this way. Maybe I can finally get a copy of Planetes 4 without missing pages!!

So far, I haven't been able to find any of these print on demand titles in the Tokyopop shop. I pretty much gave up on using their site when they "redesigned" it a couple years back. It's so poorly designed and user hostile. In reality, it could be so simple. I do like the fact that they are doing the free shipping over $25 thing like Amazon though. Like others have commented, they should put a new tab up with a list of the titles you can have printed.

Is there any comprehensive list of all titles are getting print-on-demand? Then I wouldn't need to browse for them.

Oh goodness, this is almost a dream come true for me, and a brilliant idea.

I really hope more companies do this sort of thing, there's so many rare out-of-print copies out there that I want that are just otherwise too expensive as a result. Coughphoenixdawncough.

Too bad Tokyopop doesn't have the decency to release new volumes to any of its series that don't make the NYT Manga Bestseller List. Rolling Eyes

Del Rey is excusable because it's dead. Tokyopop is still as active as ever, making iPod Touch skins and selling manga for prices I haven't seen since the 90s. Oh yeah, and a Reality Show.

Some Tokyopop series haven't gotten new volumes since 2008. Even Tactics, which Tokyopop insisted was "back on schedule", had its last volume released precisely a year ago now.
