I hope this doesn't cut down the amount of releases we see on Soul Eater. Highschool of the Dead is the first thing that comes to mind for a series that needs more frequent releases.

But Soul Eater has such great side characters that it could easily launch another series just to focus more on them! |

Or she could do what Hiromu Arakawa did with Fullmetal Alchemist and Hero Tales. That is, she reduced FMA by 5-10 pages each month, and published Hero Tales bi-monthly. FMA got a bit shorter, but it didn't have a noticeable drop in quality. In fact, I think it stayed strong to the end!

I haven't been following the Soul Eater manga, but is it possible that this means it will end soon and Not! will just sorta replace it? Maybe the author is just using this time as a bridge between them?

An interesting announcement. Although to be honest, I would have preferred that the mangaka went back to his earlier worik B.Ichi and provided a more conclusive ending to the series.

I expect this to be 1 of two things, A) a gag series or B) Side stories about either secondary characters or new characters from other Reaper organizations.

It's currently in the middle of an arc within a even bigger story arc and neither of those seems like they will end soon. So that seems unlikely, although it's as good a guess as any at this point. |

The current arc is going to pot anyways spoiler[(okay, the Freddy Krueger, Jason, and Leatherface three-headed dragon is pretty damn cool, but otherwise the last few chapters haven't been all that great).]
If this is used as a way to develop side characters, I think that would be cool and I'd welcome it (not that I don't like Soul and Maka - they are my favorites - but I'd love to see some actual characterization and development from Troika and other charas). But if this becomes a dump for Ohkubo to start putting out all of his perversions... well, if it reduces it from the regular series, I'll approve. But holy smokes, man, stop sexualizing Maka. Someone needs to reign you back in, boy! |
