I'd heard rumors awhile back about MB considering a Loveless dub, but Kashimashi certainly wasn't high on my guess list.
I remember reading that Kashimashi was a very high seller so actually it's not too surprising. Out of the Yuri/Girls Love/Pick-Your-Own-Term anime they released, it's probably the one most likely to succeed.

Actually, I seem to recall ranting long ago when it was released subbed only that the mix of sci-fi and comedy with the girl on girl romance would make it more accessible to a broader range of fans and thus more marketable and deserving of an English dub.

Nice to see my opinion vindicated somewhat.

Also I don't think you can call the talk of a Loveless dub rumors when Sirabella himself said it was probably coming. I quoted from a post of his here.

I hope they don't ruin [Loveless] with a bad dub cast though.
I fail to see how a dub can ruin anything in this case, considering that anyone who would consider a dub ruinous either already has or could easily obtain the old sub-only DVDs.
Hold on, English dub preferring fans can easily have personal dislikes toward certain VAs or studios and MB's dubbing as of late has been a tad inconsistent. Queen's Blade (what's come out so far) is fine and Dokura-chan is awesome but Kanokon's dub had some glaring flaws.

If MB puts the kind of effort in that was used for Dokuro-chan or QB, I'd say the majority of English dub preferring fans will be pretty satisfied. If they go with the Kanokon approach, there might be less happiness.

For the sensitive ear, just as with Japanese prefering fans, certain VAs or directoral choices in performance can "ruin" an otherwise good dub. If you hate a certain VA's voice, the dub could be ruined by their being cast as the main character.

The question of quality of a dub isn't merged with it's existence. Every English dub is not good. Some suck. Some suck very much. It's entirely possible to be very happy about an English dub being announced then feel it is later "ruined" by bad casting, bad translation/directing or technical errors.

I'm interested to see which studio they use for these and who they cast. I could use more anime like these in my collection. (Kashimashi especially, though I love the manga more.)

*Edited to correct link error. I'm tired.

Please dub Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei all seasons and OVA's if you do I will NEVER complain about another dub again.

Even though I'd like Hayate, Toradora! and Kannagi to have a dub, I'd never complain again!

Oh yeah also release it on Blu-ray in box-sets!

We also need Tokyo Godfathers dubbed. There was no reason why Columbia-Tristar couldn't dub that masterpiece of a film!

I haven't watched a dub in quite a while. I can't think of an active VA who would make a good Hazumu from Kashimashi. An even more interesting, fun character to ponder for an English voice is Jan Puu.

In other words, if any of them were dubbed in LA then hopefully they used Bang Zoom & not Arvintel.

Wow... I bought the Kashimashi boxset for something like $15 from Best Buy months ago, but haven't watched it yet. I honestly didn't even know it was sub-only, not that it would have stopped me. But that being said, I'll probably buy it again to get the dub this time, since that's what I thought I was buying before. As long as the price is reasonable, I'm good for it.

...Perhaps this'll inspire TokyoPop to actually release the rest of the Loveless manga. That's definitely one that fell of the face of U.S.

It didn't fall off the earth. There just isn't anymore. She wrote Vol 9 which took years in japan and she has not touched the story since. It has been on hiatus for a long time. I do wish she would finish it though.

I bought the singles as they came out but I will be double dipping with this new dub. And i do agree, Crispin would make a great Soubi!

I don't know if I like the big VOCAL COLLECTION on the cover art. It's kind of... odd sounding. Like they've included drama CDs or something like that.

Either way, I probably won't be buying Kashimashi again. The anime was fine (with a great, Tomari tear jerking scene); but the manga is so vastly superior in terms of execution and drama, that I'll probably never watch the anime again.

I bought the individual Kashimashi DVDs back when they first came out years ago, so even with a dub, I doubt I'd buy it again. I don't particularly enjoy dubs, and anyway, how could they ever think to compete with Kana Ueda, Yui Horie and Yukari Tamura? I am pleased to hear that it sold well enough to deserve a dub, though, as I still like the series, though of course, the manga is much better based on story alone.

Awesome news, especially since I'm in the no doubt very small group that likes both these series

Good to hear. I might consider getting Kashimashi at some point.

And hopefully I'm not the only one who thought these "Vocal Collections" were audio dramas or something similar Embarassed
(When MB first announced this on their Facebook page they didn't initially specify that these were shows that they were going back and dubbing, just that they would be getting Vocal Collections. And I didn't really know what that meant at the time...)

Maybe they could offer a discount edition: a CD that you sync up to start with the DVD after muting the TV. But that's not bloody likely, so a nominal trade-up program will suffice.

I wonder if the Vocal Collections would eventually have more animes that was releast with only subtitles, like Girl's High?

I AM ALL OVER THAT!

Perhaps we can get a little Ramen Fighter Miki dub action up in here? Too bad they can't outsource to Funimation or Section 23 since they're pretty much the comedy dub specialists.

No interest in BL stuff so I will pass on Loveless but I hope it does well for MB. Since I don't have much experience in the yuri zone I will probably give Kashimashi a purchase depending on how I feel about it when I rent it.
