Kodocha (TV) | Very good | A slap stick anime that is balanced with drama which makes it one of a kind. You owe yourself a pat on the back to watch this whole series entirely. |
Kodocha (OAV) | So-so | It's basically only covers the Akito's fued with his family chapter of Kodocha. Unlike the TV anime, this one doesn't have any slap stick humor or random-ness. Those who love the TV anime will find the OVA to be very dry. |
Kumo to Tulip (movie) | Very good | It's basicly a Japanese version of something out of Disney's Silly Sympathies. Except the Spider might appear offensive to some American viewers. |
Labyrinth (movie) | Excellent | Great story and characters that support the other two segments of the Neo Tokyo movie. |
Lady Death (U.S. movie) | Very good | It's half different from the original comic, but a highly recommended movie to introduce to those not familiar with the Queen of Hell herself. The character is so appealing that you'll wish they'd make a trilogy out of this movie. |
(The) Laughing Target (OAV) | Good
Legend of the Forest (movie) | Excellent | Tezuka Osamu at his best, I love how this movie was well thought out with not only enviromental messages, but also a heavy set of characters that have been modeled after Disney creations as seen in Tezuka's other works. Keep an eye out for the Snow White parodies. |
Like the Clouds, Like the Wind (movie) | Good | An interesting tale of an empress, except the story wasn't a perfect one. Even if some of the Ghibli staff member were involved with the production. |
Little Nemo - Adventures in Slumberland (movie) | Excellent | A true gem of what America & Japan can create for an animated film. Brilliant story borrowed from Animation pioneer & cartoonist Winsor McKay. It also has a wonderful cast of characters to support an imaginative story that is as dream like as Slumberland itself. |
Love Hina (TV) | Excellent | A great harem anime with plenty of cute women. |
Love Hina Again (OAV) | Excellent | A great conclusion to the franchise. |
Love Hina Spring Special - I Wish Your Dream | Excellent | Further adventures with the Love Hina characters. |
Love Hina X'mas Special - Silent Eve | Excellent | Christmas is best with the Love Hina group. |
Lupin III vs. Detective Conan (special) | Excellent | Best crossover ever, you can't ask for a great gathering between two famous characters. |
Lupin III: Alcatraz Connection (special) | Excellent | A fantastic Lupin anime with a well written story and mystery on Alcatraz and the JFK assassination connection. |
Lupin III: Angel Tactics (special) | Very good | The story's not perfect but has the best animation seen in any Lupin anime. |
Lupin III: Crisis in Tokyo (special) | Excellent | The first, if not the only Lupin TV special with Zenigata as the center of the attention. |
Lupin III: Dead or Alive (movie) | Excellent | A must see movie for any Lupin fan, cause this was the only one directed by Monkey Punch himself, while the characters look excatly like their manga counterparts. |
Lupin III: Dragon of Doom (special) | Good | Good for Yasuo Yamada's last role as Lupin. |
Lupin III: Elusiveness of the Fog (special) | Very good | Mamo Kyosuke has been brought back for the first time since the Green Jacket TV series. Only this time they decide to remake Lupin's encounter with Mamo for this one. Has an interesting plot, but I agree with various Lupin Expert fans that the writers didn't grab hold of the oppurtunity to use this plot properly. |
Lupin III: Episode 0 'First Contact' (special) | Excellent | A great origin story that was never done before for any of the previous Lupin anime. |
Lupin III: Farewell to Nostradamus (movie) | Excellent | Kanichi Kurita's first role as Lupin III! |
Lupin III: Goodbye Partner (special) | Excellent
Lupin III: Island of Assassins (special) | Good | The most violent Lupin anime ever made. Worth checking out, except the story might not be for everyone's appeal. |
Lupin III: Missed by a Dollar (special) | Excellent | A great introduction for Lupin entering the new millineum. I love the plot on stock markets, rigged wars, and a broach that gives anyone good luck. |
Lupin III: Operation Return the Treasure (special) | Very good | A good plot that is linked with the Sagrada Familia and Lupin being given a task to return six treasures to find an even better treasure. |
Lupin III: Part II (TV) | Excellent
Lupin III: Return of Pycal (OAV) | Good | First Lupin anime to be animated digitally. Along with a villian who hasn't been seen since the first TV series. Despite a short story that could of been longer, it was enjoyable, except some fans might dislike how the story turns out. |
Lupin III: Secret Files (OAV) | Very good | An OAV that features the first Lupin anime that predates the first TV series in two different versions. Along with trailers of the first three movies that'll please any Lupin fan. |
Lupin III: Seven Days Rhapsody (special) | Very good | A well developed story during the first 3/4 of the movie, except the climax felt a little rushed which prevented me from giving it a higher rating. |
Lupin III: Strange Psycho-Kinetic Strategy (live-action movie) | Decent | An interesting attempt for a live action adaption of the anime and manga. Except the director and writers seem to try too hard in balancing slap stick and realism. Plus why couldn't they get someone casted as Goemon for this one? |
Lupin III: Swallowtail Tattoo (special) | Excellent | An awesome Lupin TV special with a well written story and supporting characters. |
Lupin III: Sweet Lost Night (special) | Good | It worth checking out, except the plot felt a little unorganized along with an unusal idea of having a lamp and "genie" in the story. Specially for a Lupin anime. |
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (movie) | Masterpiece | Miyazaki's first debut as director, and he did an excellent job with the second Lupin movie htat's more appealing than the previous one. While not a classic at first in it's original release it gain a better reputation decades later. Plus it's perfect for anyone who wants to start watching Lupin. |
Lupin III: The Columbus Files (special) | Good | It was good, but not one of my favorite Lupin TV specials. Cause I usually dislike it when 3/4 of the story has a character with amnesia. |
Lupin III: The Fuma Conspiracy (movie) | Excellent | The first OAV of it's kind. Fuma Conspiracy was always a Lupin of a different color when it didn't use anyone from the original cast due to it being a low budget OAV. |
Lupin III: the Last Job (special) | Good | I like the idea of having Zenigata being presumed dead at the start of this TV special. However I felt the writers didn't use that idea wisely for this one. And it's unlikely we'll see something like that happen to Zenigata again any time soon. The story is fine, except the supporting characters and villian could of been worked out better. If they want to continue making Lupin anime, then they need to show more effort than this. |
Lupin III: The Legend of the Gold of Babylon (movie) | Decent | The weakest Lupin anime theatical film ever. If it wasn't Lupin related I could care less about it. |
Lupin III: The Pursuit of Harimao's Treasure (special) | Excellent | An exciting Lupin TV special will plenty of chase scenes, booby traps, and fist fights. The things that make Lupin, Lupin. |
Lupin III: The Secret of Twilight Gemini (movie) | Excellent | Recommended if you want to seem more fan service than any other Lupin anime. |
Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine (TV) | Excellent | The TV series every Lupin fan wanted to see happen, and it's nothing like what we predicted it to be. Which is great cause it does something no other Lupin series accomplished before which is having the whole TV series focus on Fujiko and the art style be inspired by the original manga. Almost like what was done in Dead or Alive movie. If you love Michiko to Hatchin, then you'll love this series cause it was directed by the same director so it has some element you'll find from that show. This also shows off more of the talents of the new cast members for Fujiko, Goemon, & Zennigata as oppose to the 2011 TV sepcial. With the success of this TV series, it proves that Lupin III can be a great anime to watch if done correctly. |
Lupin III: Voyage to Danger (special) | Excellent | This is when Lupin TV specials start to change what was previously done before. In this case a new director and art style which changes within the later tv specials until the 2001 TV special. |
Lupin Sansei: Lupin Ikka Seizoroi (OAV) | Very good
Lupin the 3rd (TV) | Excellent | Despite it being cut short during it's original run. Green Jacket Lupin was a cool TV anime of the early 70s. The ones directed by Miyazaki were the best ones in my opinion right next to the first two episodes. |
Lupin the 3rd: Blood Seal of the Eternal Mermaid (special) | Very good | For the first Lupin anime to include a cast change, this was a good start. At first I didn’t like the plot, but after watching it again years later. It grew on me, it’s probably because I have since learn more about mermaid folklore in Japan and notice its tributes to Rumiko Takahashi’s Mermaid Saga. |
Lupin the 3rd: Bye Bye, Lady Liberty (special) | Very good | A great start to the long line of Lupin TV specials. This is a fairly enjoyable TV special if you're a Lupin or action bluff. |
Lupin the 3rd: From Siberia with Love (special) | Excellent | The last Lupin TV special that shares the same art style as it's predesscors. The story for this one makes the previous one look less appealing. |
Lupin the 3rd: Green vs Red (OAV) | Excellent | Something that was never done before, which is having the two color brand jackets of Lupin clash against each other where one will stand and one will fall. I would of given this OAV a Masterpiece rating if it had all of the previous Lupins from as far back as the late 60s get more screen time. However it's best Lupin anime that came by since the past two years. |
Lupin the 3rd: Napoleon's Dictionary (special) | Good | One of the weaker earlier TV specials with a some good moments but nothing like the previous ones. |
Lupin the 3rd: Princess of the Breeze! (special) | Very good |
