Amatsuki (TV) | This has beautiful vivid colors and I just love the characters and the bit of a history lesson.
Baccano! (TV) | Masterpiece
Black Lagoon (TV) | Excellent | Now this chick just kicks ass. She makes this series. Hardened and melancholy with a bad temper, her softer side only comes out slightly giving her a true-to-life depth. |
Cowboy Bebop (TV) | Masterpiece | Nobody can beat Spike in my book. This anime has a kick-ass soundtrack, wonderfully interesting characters and development, and a bold anime style. |
Grave of the Fireflies (movie) | Masterpiece
Howl's Moving Castle (movie) | Masterpiece | A typical Miazaki movie with magic, wizards, and peaceful nature theme. It is detailed and beautiful and I watch it over and over. |
Kino's Journey (TV) | Masterpiece | This one is a bit different. It is relaxed and kind of slow. It is about a traveler and what they learn from different cultures on their lone journey. Very inspiring to me as a traveler myself. |
Mushi-Shi (TV) | Masterpiece | Bright vivid colors and wonderful zen undertones. Each episode is a full story in and of itself. Laid back and mellow, but it definitely keeps your attention. |
Naruto Shippūden (TV) | Excellent | Uplifting. Naruto is everywhere and I should be sick of him. But I just can't get enough of this cursed kid who is determined to keep going and do his best. |
Paranoia Agent (TV) | Masterpiece | Obscure. Another one where almost every episode can be watched independently. It is psychological and makes me thing of society's impact on us. |
Samurai Champloo (TV) | Masterpiece | kickass soundtrack. Wonderfully interesting characters and a great dynamic between them. Integrates modern day elements (hip-hop, breakdancing, graffiti) with old edo japan. |
Tales from Earthsea (movie) | Masterpiece | After falling in love with this tale I realized it was based from a novel I read years ago by Ursula Le Guin. Great character development, amazing magical setting: Earthsea, and wonderful advenure. And of course, Miyazaki's bright colors and spiritual feel. |
