We Actually Do Listen...

In our recent survey about advertising on ANN, and the resulting feedback in the forum, we noticed two issues in particular that bothered a lot of people, and we felt we could rectify fairly easily.
We were surprised to learn that a very significant portion of our readers, 46% of you, do not consider the double-underlined in-text ads to be acceptable. Numerous people pointed out in the forum that these ads interfered with their reading experience.
Secondly, and not particularly surprising, a number of readers were unhappy with a few of the skins we've run. A few of them have been, a bit more salacious than some of you feel comfortable with; particularly those of you who view ANN from work.
In response, we've decided to give all registered users the ability to:
1 - Turn off the in-text ads
2 - Turn off PG-13 (ie: NSFW) ad skins
These account settings are available to all registered users, not just subscribers (previously the ability to turn off in-text ads was a subscriber feature, and the ability to turn off PG-13 ad skins did not exist).
In order to modify these settings, head over to your account settings.
There are of course other issues that we want to address in the coming months, but not all of them are as easily taken care of as these two.
