Comments from the Main Staff
Yoshihiro Miyajima (Director)
The staff are all currently hard at work.
Please look forward to the anime Delicious in Dungeon!!
Kimiko Ueno (Story Editor)
When adapting Delicious in Dungeon into an anime, I put a lot of thought into the structure of the story so as not to destroy the worldview of the original manga.
My intention was to put the exact same excitement and thrill that I felt when I first read the manga into the script.
Whether you're already a fan of Delicious in Dungeon or if you have yet to read the manga, please join Laios and the others on this journey though the dungeon and indulge in the bizarre gourmet along the way.
Naoki Takeda (Character Design)
I'm very happy to be put in charge of the character design for a series I love!
As the chief animation director, I'll do my best to carefully extract and insert the fun I felt reading the manga for the first time, as well as Laios and the others' lively interactions!
Yasunori Mitsuda (Music)
As you can see from watching the trailer, the musical theme of this anime is early medieval music.
Early medieval music is music that was played in Europe before the 15th century (before the Renaissance), and those ancient instruments are said to be the ancestors of today's musical instruments.
Currently, only a few people can play them as the instruments themselves are hard to come by, so it was very difficult to combine this type of music with today's modern music, but I wanted everyone to listen to the music unique to Delicious in Dungeon so I composed it through trial and error.
I hope you can enjoy this highly distinctive music alongside the anime.
New Characters and Comments from the Voice Actors
Falin (VA: Saori Hayami)
CHARACTER
A magician who explores the dungeon with her brother, Laios. Unlike Marcille, her main roles are strengthening the party, healing, and exorcising spirits. During their battle with the Red Dragon deep in the dungeon, she gets eaten while protecting Laios.
COMMENT
Since reading the Delicious in Dungeon manga, I've been completely drawn in by its uniquely serious yet comedic, heartwarming rhythm, so I'm happy to be able to play Falin.
Like her brother Laios, Falin is curious, kind-hearted and gentle. Though there may be many surprising twists in the story, I'm giving it my all while having fun voicing her.
The recording sessions are also filled with everyone's love for the series.
Please enjoy the world of Delicious in Dungeon while eating delicious food!
Namari (VA: Akira Miki)
CHARACTER
A dwarf who used to join Laios' party on their adventures. A combat professional, she is well-versed in weaponry and adept at handling them. In the wake of Falin being eaten by the Red Dragon, she leaves Laios' party.
COMMENT
I'm Akira Miki and I voice Namari.
The manga has reached its immensely satisfying end, but it's finally time for the long-awaited TV anime adaption! You can really feel the respect for the original manga through how carefully and thoroughly it's been adapted, so I'm very happy to be able to vicariously experience this story as Namari. Personally, I like the picture of the mandrake in the pot in the second key visual – it's really cute how it seems to act like it's relaxing in a hot spring.
Speaking of happy, I've been secretly enjoying “Delicious in Dungeon Shibuya” (a collaboration between Delicious in Dungeon and restaurants in Shibuya), so if there's anything similar in the future I'll be able to have fun with everyone…! Nevertheless, I plan to take care of my health while looking forward to the anime with a drink in hand!
Shuro (VA: Shinji Kawada)
CHARACTER
A formidable wielder of the eastern weapon, the katana. He used to explore the dungeons as a member of Laios' party. Like Namari, he leaves the party after Falin is eaten by the Red Dragon.
COMMENT
It's been a great pleasure and honor to be able to take part in the popular series Delicious in Dungeon!
Not only is imagining the taste of the food made from various ingredients (monsters) exciting, each and every one of the characters is very appealing so I've been increasingly drawn into this story!
Shuro is a son of a noble family but an earnest sword master, and I enjoy playing his role to the best of my ability! Please look forward to it!
Opening Theme Song Announced
BUMP OF CHICKEN - "Sleep Walking Orchestra"
Comment from BUMP OF CHICKEN
We love Delicious in Dungeon.
Since the start of the manga's serialization, we've been waiting impatiently to read the continuation.
When we received the offer for the opening theme song, we were both extremely happy and honored, but at the same time we were very moved that this one-and-only unique world and story would be recreated as an anime, and that we would finally be able to watch it. So, we poured all these thoughts into creating this theme.
We can't wait to watch the opening animation.
Something we've never eaten before, something slightly scary that we still want to try or maybe even something that looks so ridiculously delicious that we'd be willing to eat it…
Just how will Senshi and the others' many dishes turn out in the anime? We'll be waiting with excitement for it to finally start streaming.
