Yoshitaka Amano, the Character Designer of TV Anime Series Gibiate Unveiled New Characters in New York Comic Con 2019

The TV Anime Series GIBIATE assembles legendary Japanese creators such as Yoshitaka Amano, Naoki Serizawa and Yuzo Koshiro, who are internationally popular in the cultural scene of Japanese anime, manga and game industry. GIBIATE PROJECT Production Committee, the production group of the anime, unveiled new characters in New York Comic Con 2019 held from 3rdto 6thOctober. The release was announced by Yoshitaka Amano, the character designer of the anime. He was invited as the special guest speaker in the event. (*New York Comic Con is the largest comic convention on the East Coast of United States. It has been held annually in Manhattan, New York ever since 2006.)
Not only new characters but also the voice cast has been unveiled at the same time. Kanzaki Sensui, the leading character in the anime is voiced by Tetsuya Kakihara. A world famous voice actor who played leading roles in anime series Fairy Tailand Gurren Lagann. The all-star voice cast also includes: Yukiyo Fujiias Kathleen, Hiroki Touchias Sanada Kenroku, Michio Hazamaas Onikura Yukinojyo. GIBIATE is greatly expected as a global IP project, with all-star cast and content. The first trailer for GIBIATE premiered at Anime Expo 2019 in July. After the premiere, the trailer successfully exceeded 400k views in 2 weeks. Over half of the views is contributed by American and Chinese audiences, which shows GIBIATE is eagerly anticipated among anime fans around the world.

Main works: Fairy Tail(Natsu "Salamander" Dragneel, the leading role), Gurren Lagann(Simon, the leading role), Yowamushi Pedal(Jinpachi Toudou), Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin(Garma Zabi), Muhyo & Roji's Bureau of Supernatural Investigation(Yoichi), etc.

I'm Tetsuya Kakihara, dubbing for Kanzaki Sensui - the leading character in GIBIATE. What I take on challenge this time, is to deliver the anime theme – “strength to live” to people nowadays.
It is such a pleasure to work with so many distinguished creators who have lived through different eras from Shōwa, Heisei to Reiwa. GIBIATE will be released across the globe in July, 2020.

Under the vision of creating a global IP project, GIBIATE has gathered so many energetic creators in Japan. I've already felt thrilled after reading the project proposal. The role I dub for in GIBIATE is Sanada Kenroku, a ninja who looks like a younger brother but actually a very mature man, supporting everyone when it comes to the crunch. I actually never played a role of ninja before, which is going to be an interesting challenge for me. And itwould be great if my acting can present the double-folded character of Kenroku to the audiences. Our voice cast will do the best and dedicate this anime work to everyone. Please enjoy!

I have entered the industry for long years, but still it's my first time to participate in such an impressive project. Looking back on my past, I have been profoundly influenced by anime works of Osamu Tezuka and Fujio Akatsuka, as I used to have the privilege to meet both of them. However, GIBIATE has a quite different style, which is kind of like Seven Samurai- the film directed by Akira Kurosawa. I will dub for Onikura Yukinojyo in GIBIATE, please enjoy!

Hatonami Renjiro
The leader of Galients, the outlaw gang. He used to be the boss of mafia.
Having broken the prison, he attacks Sensui and other people for food, with his weapon of Nagadosu (a type of Japanese sword).
Soshigaya Guren
The number two of Galients, having followed Renjiro since he was a gangster.
He fights Gibia by using his two pistols, unrivaled in speed and accuracy.
Mikimoto Isao
The member of Galients, who used to be a track and field athlete.
He has sympathy with Renjiro and Soshigaya because of their manhood.
Hamuro Katsunori
The member of Galients, who used to be a fishman.
He had happened to kill a friend in the fight, and been sent to prison then.
Sakuma Hidenori
The member of Galients, who used to be a bomber.
Because of Renjiro's manhood, he became Renjiro's little brother in jail.

■Synopsis
In 2030, Japan. A virus has infected humans throughout the world.
Infected people turn into different forms of monsters based on their ages, sexes and races. The virus is named ‘Gibia’ - after being rich in variety like gibier.
Just then, a pair of samurai and ninja appeared in such a blighted wasteland of Japan.
They both travelled from the early Edo period, fighting together with help from a doctor who tries to find cure for Gibia.
Facing ceaseless attacks from Gibias, and outlaws that attack travelers for food, they start the dangerous journey with enemies all around.
The anime series GIBIATE is launching the promotion globally for the year before its official release in summer, 2020. More collaboration projects with famous Japanese creators and artists will be announced soon.
