International Manga Stars Crowned in KitKat Sponsored Silent Manga Audition® Extra Round!
The results are in and Malaysian manga artist Harihtaroon has been crowned Grand Prix winner in the 4th SILENT MANGA AUDITION® Extra Round 2019, in association with Nestlé.
Harihtaroon's award winning manga “Lucky Charm”, a delightful and endearing story about a well intentioned cat, perfectly captured the spirit of the theme “Supporting Success”, along with the hearts of the SMA judges, manga legends Tsukasa Hōjō (Cat's Eye; City Hunter), Tetsuo Hara (Fist of the North Star; Ikusa no Ko), Ryuji Tsugihara (Yoroshiku Mecha-Doc; Restore Garage 251), and Jun Tomizawa (Commander Zero; Koroshiya Menkichi).
Joining Harihtaroon on the winners rostrum their with GP Runner Up prizes are SMA Masterclass member Hyrohiku, also from Malaysia and Ichirou from Brazil, along with aspiring MasterClass manga artist RIZA aL ASSAMI from Indonesia with his Runner Up manga entry “Father”.
With 154 incredible entries from every corner of the globe, SMA-EX4 proved that the dream of becoming a professional manga artist is alive and well.

Now in its 11th Round, and 4th Extra Round, the SILENT MANGA AUDITION® is an international manga competition that aims to discover, support and launch the careers of manga artists around the world. Organized by Japanese manga publisher COAMIX Inc., a North Star Pictures Inc. company, and headed by CEO Nobuhiko Horie (ex-chief editor of Weekly Shonen Jump and Weekly Comic Bunch), this pioneering audition has attracted over 3500 artists from over 100 countries since its 2012 inauguration.
