SaikouCon 2017 Brings Back Lehigh Valley Punk Band Deprived as Musical Guest
Convention also Released Full Anime Screening Schedule for 2017 Show with 38 Hours of Anime
5/30/17 Allentown, PA – SaikouCon, which means "best convention", is the large scale, annual anime convention of the Lehigh Valley. Boasting a dedicated staff of longtime Japanese anime and manga fans, SaikouCon is excited to be the only large scale annual convention dedicated exclusively to anime, manga, and Japanese culture and pop culture in this area of Pennsylvania. The convention grew out of web magazine Anime Ate My Brain Magazine (relaunching soon); the sibling to music focused web magazine, Tastes Like Rock Magazine. Both journalistic endeavors fall under the publishing wing of Nerdy Rock 'n Roller Productions.
The convention will always remain very hands on and attendee friendly every year, while also maintaining a safe atmosphere for attendees to enjoy the convention to their carefree fullest. SaikouCon promises to remain an all inclusive event where all are welcome to enjoy the fun, friendship, and saftey the con has offered in the past. As always, Cosplay =/= Consent is a very important issue to the staff of SaikouCon, and the same rules and regulations that made SaikouCon Years 1-4 safe havens for cosplayers will be enforced just as strictly at SaikouCon 2017.
SaikouCon welcomes back the Lehigh Valley's own Deprived! Deprived first joined SaikouCon as Musical Guests for SaikouCon 2016's first Saikou Punk Rock Show, they had such a good time they wanted to perform at SaikouCon 2017 and we are happy to let them rock the con once more! Deprived's sound runs the gauntlet from punk to hard rock to metal, now that we're home in the Lehigh Valley we couldn't pass up having one of the best party bands in the Valley back too! Deprived is an Hard Rock/Alternative/Punk/Grunge band consisting of, Mike Schaffer on guitar and vocals, Chad Marinkovits on bass and back-up vocals, and Donald Petersen on drums and back-up vocals. Deprived sounds like a mixture of Nirvana, Mudhoney, Seether, Flipper, Chevelle, Stone Sour, Soundgarden, and The Velvet Underground, all rolled up into one nice neat little package. With Deprived back for another round, SaikouCon may bring back the Saikou Punk Rock Show too... keep an eye out on the convention's social media and main website in the coming weeks for the announcement of whether Deprived will be part of the convention's Cosplay Concert or if they will be leading a new Saikou Punk Rock Show!
