Bandai America Adds Three Hot New Licenses to its Collectible Games Division
Bandai America to Launch Highly Anticipated Teen Titans, Gundam War and Zatch Bell Collectible Card Games (CCG), and Introduce New Digimon CCG Expansion Set
NEW YORK, NY, February 20, 2005 – Building off of a highly successful first year, Bandai America Incorporated's collectible games division is set to unveil its expanded brand offerings at the 2005 American International Toy Fair. The new lineup includes three exciting licenses, Teen Titans™, Gundam War and Zatch Bell. In addition, a new expansion set for the popular Digimon CCG entitled “Hybrid Warriors” will be out in stores this Spring. Fans of Bandai America's Navia Dratp collectible miniature game will also see the unveiling of an exclusive “ghost” set available only through the division's organized play program.
“We are very excited to launch our Teen Titans and Zatch Bell CCGs this year. Since its debut, Teen Titans toys have been blowing up at retail and the TV show is a major ratings success on two networks,” said Danny Satyapan, collectible games marketing manager at Bandai America Incorporated. “Additionally, Zatch Bell has climbed to the top of the CCG category in Japan since its debut more than a year ago. We believe this brand will be successful here in the United States given the compelling animated series and the innovative CCG that uses a spell book game system never before seen in the category.”
“Gundam War has been one of the most successful CCGs in Japan for the past 8 years and has spawned an incredible 18 expansion sets. Fans will be glad to hear that the U.S. version is 100% true to the Japanese original. Digimon also continues to be a strong property for us and we're set to release 3 new expansions this year beginning with 'Hybrid Warriors,' ” Satyapan added.
In addition, Bandai America's collectible miniature game, Navia Dratp, returns as a unique strategy based game that combines minor play elements of chess with a magical fantasy storyline. Players use a unique flip-dial system on the intricately detailed game pieces to attribute different strengths and values. The limited edition Navia Dratp “ghost” set will only be available through participation in Bandai America's organized play program.
Bandai America's nationwide organized play program was launched last year and is dedicated to working with hobby and gaming stores around the country to build grassroots support for the company's games and to promote local tournaments and events. Utilizing this important technique helps grow the community of players, while reaching new gamers directly where they shop and play. In addition, Bandai America will hit the road and make appearances at numerous gaming and anime conventions throughout the year, including GAMA (Las Vegas), Origins (Ohio), Comic-Con (San Diego), Wizard World (Los Angeles, Chicago & Boston) and Gen-Con (So Cal).
