MCM London Comic Con Runs Next Friday to Sunday at ExCel Centre

Event at ExCel Centre includes world premiere of Kyoto Animation's Sparks of Tomorrow on Saturday, as well as a Friday panel by Frieren: Beyond Journey's End composer Evan Call and dub actors from Death Note, My Hero Academia and Dragon Ball Z


The MCM London Comic Con will take place at London's ExCel Centre from Friday May 22 to Sunday May 24. It will include an appearance on Friday by composer Evan Call; the World Premiere of the Kyoto Animation series Sparks of Tomorrow on Saturday; and appearances from numerous dub actors, including several who were involved in Death Note, My Hero Academia and Dragon Ball Z.

Evan Call, the composer of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End and Violet Evergarden, will appear on a panel on Friday at 3 p.m.

Born in California, Call's music career in Japan began in 2012. Hs many other anime music credits include My Happy Marriage, Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube, Muv-Luv Alternative, Appare-Ranman! and Tokyo ESP.

Two Dragon Ball Z dub actors, John Burgmeier (Tien) and his mother Linda Young (Frieza), will be at all three days of the events for autographs and photo ops. They will also appear on a panel on the Capital Stage on Friday at 4 p.m.

John Burgmeier's other voice roles include Kurama in Yu-Yu Hakusho, Shigure Sohma in Fruits Basket, Dr. Xeno in Dr. Stone: Science Future, Eyes Rutherford in Spiral, and Switzerland in Hetalia - Axis Powers. He was also the Head Writer at FUNimation, including working as Head Writer for the English-dubbed One Piece.

Linda Young's other voice roles include Faust in Once Upon a Witch's Death and Yoko Itoigawa in Hyou-ka.

Three My Hero Academia dub actors will appear on all three days, and on a panel on Saturday on the Capital Stage at 12 p.m. They are:

Gabe Kunda (Rock Lock), who also voices Delling Rembran in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury.

Leah Clark (Himiko Toga), who also voices Miss Kobayashi in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, Airi in Classroom of the Elite, Minami in Laid-Back Camp and Saki in Eden of the East.

Austin Tindle (Neito Monoma), who also voices Ken Kaneki in Tokyo Ghoul, Accelerator in A Certain Magical Index, Gabiru in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and Ayumu in Is This a Zombie?

The World Premiere of the television anime of Hiro Yūki's Sparks of Tomorrow (20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku) novel will be screened on Saturday. This is before the series' international debut on June 5. Following a screening of the first two episodes of the series, there will be a panel discussion with the series' director Minoru Ōta, the producer Ryona Kuyama, and a signing session with Ota. Anime Limited's announcement also said there will be sales of exclusive merchandise at the event.

The screening and panel will take place on Saturday from 2.45 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. on the Capital Stage, with the Minoru Ōta signing following from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The anime will debut on Japanese television on July 5. It will exclusively stream worldwide on Netflix on Sundays starting on July 5 at 11:00 p.m. JST.

There will be Death Note dub actors attending the event. A "Twenty Years of Death Note" panel is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday on the Main Stage, though the speakers on this specific panel are not confirmed on the event's website as of writing. The Death Note dub actors attending MCM Expo are:

Brad Swaile, who voiced Light in Death Note. He also voiced Rock in Black Lagoon, Amuro Ray in Mobile Suit Gundam, Mousse in Ranma 1/2 and Yota in Video Girl Ai.

Alessandro Juliani, who voiced L in Death Note. He also voiced Nightscream in the US series Beast Machines: Transformers and Koji in Oban Star-Racers.

Brian Drummond, who voiced Ryuk in Death Note. He also voiced Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z, Benny in Black Lagoon, Eggman in Sonic Prime, Zechs Merquise in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and Jetfire and Jolt in Transformers: Cybertron.

Shannon Chan-Kent, who voiced Misa Amane in Death Note. She also voiced Christine Sierra in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and multiple roles including Amy Rose in the US ONA Sonic Prime.

The voice-actor Damien Haas will appear on all three days, and on a panel on the Live Stage on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Haas's dub roles include Laios in Delicious in Dungeon, Diego Brando in STEEL BALL RUN JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Kiyoka in My Happy Marriage and Ryoka in the 2024 version of Ranma ½.
