Adi Shankar and Alex Larsen (Yasuke) completed writing the scripts for the first season of the new Devil May Cry series as of November 2021. Studio Mir is animating the series, which will have multiple seasons.

Johnny Yong Bosch will voice Dante in the English-dubbed version of the show.

The first season will have eight episodes and will feature the characters Dante, Vergil, and Lady. The opening sequence features Limp Bizkit's song "Rollin'." Rock band Evanescence are performing a new song "Afterlife" for the series.

Shankar announced his acquisition of the series in November 2018 and stated that the series "will join Castlevania in what we're now calling the bootleg multiverse."

The Devil May Cry game series previously inspired a 12-episode television anime series by Madhouse in 2007. ADV Films and later Funimation released the series on home video. Crunchyroll began streaming the anime in June 2017.

The Devil May Cry 5 game launched in March 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game received a special edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2020.

Morihito Otogi's family is descended from a long line of ogre familiars, and he has the inhuman strength to prove it. One day, his father comes to him with the life-changing news that he is to become the familiar of his childhood friend, the teenage witch Nico. He is to live under the same roof with her and protect her from anything and anyone that may attempt to harm her. Meanwhile, Nico is excited to get to live with the love of her life, even if her crush is one-sided—Morihito is so serious about his duties to protect her that any romance is going to be an uphill battle. But he has every reason to be serious, as Nico has a prophecy of doom hanging over her head!

Shinohara (Astra Lost in Space, Sket Dance) launched the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in February 2021. Shueisha will publish the manga's 21st compiled book volume on April 4.
