Crunchyroll announced on Monday that it is adding the VS Knight Lamune & 40 Fresh original video anime (OVA) and the third season of the Kyo kara Maoh! television anime to its catalog. The company will begin streaming both anime in the United States and Canada on Monday at 6:00 p.m. EST.
The six-episode VS Knight Lamune & 40 Fresh OVA debuted in Japan in 1997. Crunchyroll describes the series:
To save the galaxy from impending doom, Cacao and Parfait are sent on a mission through time and space to retrieve the Fourth Warrior, Lamunes. Unfortu- nately, Cacao and Parfait discover Lamunes at the helm of the marauding Giga Genos invasion fleet. World by world, Lamunes is determined to bring the entire galaxy under his tyrannical heel. With the helpof a plucky orphan, it's up to Cacao and Parfait to stop Lamunes from taking over the world.
The OVA is the sequel to the VS Knight Lamune & 40 Fire, which Crunchyroll began streaming in September. Crunchyroll began streaming the NG Knight Lamune & 40 anime from Discotek in June. The Lamune anime franchise also spawned the Knights of Lamune & EX, Knights of Lamune & 40 DX, and Knights of Lamune OVAs.
The 39-episode third season of Kyo kara Maoh! aired in Japan from 2008-2009. Crunchyroll describes the series:
When Yuri returns to the Great Demon Kingdom after a couple of weeks on Earth, he finds the Ten Aristocrats ready to install Wolfram as the Demon King in his stead. On top of that, the new king of Big Cimaron is itching to invade his Demon Tribe neighbors in the kingdom, while the young, charismatic King Saralegi of Small Cimaron seeks an alliance with the Great Demon Kingdom, even as he secretly plots to control Yuri with his hypnotic power. Meanwhile, a secret society with ancient roots and ties to a superhuman hermit kingdom upsets the balance between human-demon relations. The final season of Kyo kara Maoh! is a fitting sendoff to King Yuri and his world of adventure, comedy, royal skullduggery and romance!
The third season is the sequel to the Kyo kara Maoh! R OVA, which Crunchyroll began streaming in September. Crunchyroll began streaming the first and second "seasons" (episodes 1-78) of the Kyo kara Maoh! anime in May.
