The staff for the Soreike! Anpanman children's anime confirmed on Thursday that the television anime will receive its first new opening title sequence since the show debuted in 1988, and it will debut with the show's 1,472nd episode on Friday. The show's director Akinori Nagaoka directed the new opening sequence, which includes a "Yanase Usagi" character intended to evoke the original manga creator, the late Takashi Yanase. "Anpanman no March" by Dreaming will continue to be the anime's opening theme song, as it has been since the show's premiere.
The Soreike! Anpanman television anime series began in 1988, and new Anpanman films have opened each summer since 1989. The 2014 film Soreike! Anpanman: Ringo Bōya to Minna no Negai (Let's Go! Anpanman: The Apple Boy and Everyone's Wishes) was the first film since Anpanman creator Takashi Yanase's passing.
The 312st film in the franchise, Soreike! Anpanman Kirameke! Ice no Kuni no Vanilla-hime (Let's go! Anpanman: Sparkle! Princess Vanilla of the Land of Ice Cream), opened in Japan on June 28.
