posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Indonesian publisher M&C! revealed on Wednesday that it has licensed Jun Mayuzuki's After the Rain (Koi wa Ameagari no Yō ni) and Ai Minase's I Need No Love (Kitto Ai dakara, Iranai) manga. The company will release the first volumes of both manga on June 26, with After the Rain shipping under M&C!'s Akasha label for mature audiences.
M&C! describes After the Rain:
Akira Tachibana is a beautiful, popular, and athletic 17-year-old high school student. Instead of dating cool guys her age, her heart finds itself drawn to a 45-year-old man. His name is Masami Kondo, a manager of a family restaurant. What could make Akira fall in love with such an unassertive, unkempt man?
Mayuzuki launched the manga in Shogakukan's Monthly Big Comic Spirits magazine in 2014. Mayuzuki transferred the series to Weekly Big Comic Spirits in early 2016, and then ended the series in March 2018. Shogakukan published the manga's 10th and final volume in April 2018. The manga was nominated for the ninth Manga Taisho awards in 2016, and was ranked #4 in the 2016 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook.
The manga's 12-episode television anime adaptation premiered in January 2018 on the Noitamina programming block on Fuji TV. The show streamed exclusively on Amazon Prime Video inside and outside of Japan, with the English title After the Rain.
The manga also inspired a live-action film that opened in Japan in May 2018. The film sold 860,000 tickets and earned 120 million yen (about US$1.09 million) to rank #4 in its opening weekend.
M&C! describes I Need No Love:
"If the time I have left is short, then I at least want to know what love is."Madoka is suffering from a serious illness, and she decides to fall in love with someone before her time ends. Her guy of choice is Kōta, the infamous playboy in her school. Thanks to Kōta, Madoka feels the freedom that has been denied to her all her life.
A sentimental and dramatic love story begins!
Minase launched the manga in Shogakukan's Sho-Comi magazine in November 2017, and Shogakukan published the manga's fifth compiled book volume on April 26.
M&C! published all 12 volumes of Minase's First Love Honey (Hachimitsu ni Hatsukoi) manga, and also published all nine volumes of Minase's Colorful Love (Koi Furu Colorful - Zenbu Kimi to Hajimete) manga.
