Megazone 23 Reboot Project Only Remakes Part I & II
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Anime production company AIC's booth at the AnimeJapan 2019 event revealed a new poster visual for its previously announced Megazone 23 reboot projects this past weekend. The poster reveals that the Megazone 23 SIN project will only remake the Megazone 23 and Megazone 23 Part II original video anime releases, with Megazone 23 Part III not mentioned. The poster visual also notes the planned brand-new Megazone 23 XI sequel, and the booth showed new footage for the Megazone 23 reboot projects and the unrelated Pretty Sammy sequel project.
AIC's crowdfunding campaign for the Megazone 23 SIN remake project launched in 2017, and it met its 10 million yen (US$89,000) goal. The staff for project hopes to green-light production on a television anime, and the staff hopes that the crowdfunded promotional video will help in preparing for that production. AIC also plans to develop the franchise into multiple media, and Megazone 23 SIN will form the foundation of that franchise.
AIC also ran a crowdfunding campaign for the new Megazone 23 XI sequel project in 2017, and it met its goal of 10 million yen (about US$92,000). The project's staff hopes to green-light production on a television anime, and the staff hopes that the crowdfunded promotional video will help in preparing for that production. AIC launched another crowdfunding campaign last August to supplement the previous one, but it ended in September having only met 25% of its 1 million yen (about US$8,980) goal.
Both Megazone 23 SIN and Megazone 23 XI are part of the special "Anime Reboot Projects" to celebrate AIC's 35th anniversary.
