Square Enix announced on Tuesday that its Kingdom Hearts III game has shipped more than 5 million copies worldwide, including digital sales. The game is now the fastest-selling title in the history of the franchise.
Square Enix released the game on January 25 in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and on January 29 in the West. The Chinese-subtitled version of the game is slated to launch in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines on May 23. A Korean-subtitled version is also planned for release.
The game's worlds include Big Hero 6, Toy Story, Tangled, Monsters, Inc., Pirates of the Caribbean, Frozen, and the returning Olympus Coliseum and Winnie-the-Pooh worlds.
Music producer Skrillex, singer Hikaru Utada, and record producer Poo Bear collaborated on the opening theme song "Face My Fears." Utada also performed the ending theme song "Don't Think Twice" (the song with Japanese lyrics is titled "Chikai" or "Oath"). The game's English audio also features returning cast members reprising their roles from various Disney films.
Those who pre-ordered the game through various outlets received a code for keyblade weapon skin.
