Producer Sam Raimi's The Grudge Reboot Film Delayed to January 2020

Entertainment news website Deadline reported on Monday that the Hollywood film reboot of The Grudge will premiere on January 3, 2020, instead of the planned June 21, 2019 opening date.
Nicolas Pesce is directing the film, and scripting the film alongside Jeff Buhler (Midnight Meat Train). Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, 30 Days of Night, The Grudge) is producing the remake with Rob Tapert and Taka Ichise (The Grudge/Ju-On, Shutter, Dark Water). Roy Lee, Doug Davison, Joe Drake, and Nathan Kahane are signed on as executive producers.
Buhler previously said in 2014 that the film will not be a remake of Takashi Shimizu's 2004 American film with actress Sarah Michelle Gellar or Shimizu's own 2002 Japanese film, Juon: The Grudge.
The latest film in the series is 2015's Ju-On: The Final Curse (Ju-On: The Final), which was billed as the last film in the franchise. However, the franchise crossed over with the Ring franchise in the 2016 Sadako vs. Kayako film.
