Adult Game Developer Hiqosoft Files for Bankruptcy
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The October 3 issue of the National Printing Bureau's Kanpō publication revealed that the Japanese adult game company hiqo-soft filed for bankruptcy on September 21.
Sol Press confirmed with ANN on Friday that its localization of hiqo-soft's Sakura Sakura and Yotsunoha games will not be affected by the filing, adding "everything on our end will continue as planned."
Sol Press plans to release Yotsunoha in an all-ages version and an 18+ version simultaneously. hiqo-soft published the original adult game in 2006, and the visual novel inspired a two-episode original video anime in 2008.
Sol Press ran successful Kickstarter campaign last year to localize Sakura Sakura for Windows PC. The game's release will also have an all-ages version and an 18+ version. hiqo-soft released the original PC game about a student in a love triangle with two girls named Sakura in 2009.
hiqo-soft released its first game Sukumizu Polis: Lot Up Shimashita on PC in 2004. The developer plans to release Sakura Sakura for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on October 25.
