Juni Taisen Manga's Akira Akatsuki Draws New Boxing Manga
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The November issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine revealed on Thursday that Akira Akatsuki and Atsurō Sakai are launching the new BOXER's BLAST manga in the magazine's next issue on November 2. Sakai is writing the manga, and Akatsuki is drawing. The magazine teases the story as centering on two boys who would have never been able to meet each other, but will carve their mark on boxing history.
Akatsuki's most recent manga is an adaptation of writer NisiOisin and illustrator Hikaru Nakamura's Juni Taisen: Zodiac War novel. The manga launched on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ app and website in September 2017. Shueisha published the manga's fourth and final volume on July 4. Viz Media is releasing the manga online for free, and also released the original novel. Viz Media also published the first volume of the manga in print on Tuesday.
NisiOisin and Akatsuki also previously collaborated on the Medaka Box manga. The manga launched in 2009, and ended in 2013. The story inspired two television anime seasons.
