Kadokawa began streaming a trailer for a live-action film adaptation of author Carib Marley and artist Takashi Imashiro's Hard-Core: Heisei Jigoku Brothers (Heisei Era Hell Brothers) on Thursday.
The film will open in Japan on November 23. Nobuhiro Yamashita is directing the film.
The manga follows Ukon, who doesn't fit in with society and decides to dig for gold. He is joined by Ushiyama, a nice young man and the only person he trusts, and his younger brother Sakon, an employee at an elite trading company. Together, they uncover an old robot.
Takayuki Yamada is producing the film and starring as Ukon. The cast also includes Yoshiyoshi Arakawa as Ushiyama and Takeru Satō as Sakon.
Akita Shoten published the first volume of the manga in 1993, but it did not receive a follow-up until 2000 when Kadokawa's Enterbrain reissued the series in two compiled volumes. Kadokawa published a new edition of the manga in four volumes last year.
