Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere Bonus Anime Previewed in 2 New Videos
posted on by Karen Ressler
The official website for the Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere anime began streaming two new preview videos for the "all-new bonus animation" that will ship with the series' upcoming Blu-ray Disc box set.
The bonus animation was in production for three years from concept to completion. It will portray a highlight from the latter part of the original novel series' 10th volume as well as contents from the series' eleventh and final volume. (The second of three parts for volume 11 shipped on September 7.)
The Blu-ray Disc box set will cost 38,000 yen (about US$340) and ship on December 21. In addition to the new anime, the set will include both seasons of the television anime, a new novel written by original light novel creator Minoru Kawakami, a CD with new bonus music (to accompany the new novel with lyrics written by Kawakami), and other bonus video content. The set will include English subtitles.
Based on the eight-book series by Minoru Kawakami, the ecchi sci-fi story takes place in a distant future. Inhabitants created a history book called “Testament” and follow its contents to reproduce the events in history. After retrieving Horizon from the Testament Union following the Mikawa Uprising, Tori and the others seek out the Armor of Deadly Sins, Horizon's emotions, and head for their next destination, the floating isle, England, on board their flying city-warship, Musashi. However, Tres España is also beginning to sail for the Battle of the Armada.
The first 13-episode season premiered in October 2011. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired, and Sentai Filmworks released the series on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in 2012. The 13-episode Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere II anime premiered in July 2012, and Crunchyroll again streamed the series as it aired. Sentai Filmworks released the season on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in 2013.
Sentai Filmworks later released both seasons in a complete collection set on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in 2016.
