Aniplex of America announced at its Otakon panel on Friday that it will rerelease the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood television anime in two Blu-ray Disc box sets on November 20, 2018. The first Blu-ray Disc box set will contain episodes 1-30, and the second box set will contain episodes 31-64. Each set will also include two original video anime (OVA) episodes.
The company also revealed during the panel that it will release the complete The irregular at magic high school anime series on a Blu-ray Disc box set on October 16.
Funimation released Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood on five DVD and Blu-ray releases from 2010 to 2011, and re-released it in a two-part collection on both DVD and Blu-ray in 2012. The company's rights to Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood expired in March 2016.
Like the first 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist anime series before it, the 2009 Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime is based on Hiromu Arakawa's original manga, though the latter hews closer to the manga's story and ending.
