The official website for New People's J-Pop Summit event announced on Friday that "due to unforeseen circumstances in regards to [the] festival venue," New People has cancelled this year's event. New People will still present the Japan Film Festival of San Francisco in Japantown this fall.
The non-profit organization Superfrog Project hosts the J-Pop Summit every year. The Japanese cultural festival launched in 2009.
The event last year hosted singer May'n, singer Azumi Inoue and her daughter Yuyu, BAND-MAID, Babyraids Japan, Misaki Iwasa, YANAKIKU, Kendama performers Zoomadanke, and dance performance group TOKYO GEGEGAY. The event was held on on September 9-10 at the Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture in San Francisco.
