The staff of Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katori no Nazotoki File (Layton Mystery Detective Agency: Kat's Mystery-Solving Files), the television anime inspired by the Professor Layton game franchise, revealed on Thursday that Sōma Saitō will play Luke Triton. Luke is Professor Layton's assistant, and he will debut in episode 10 of the anime on June 10. The staff also began streaming the anime's third promotional video.
The anime premiered on April 8 and airs every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. on Fuji TV and other channels.
The anime is based on Level 5's Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy game that focuses on Katrielle "Kat" Layton, daughter of Professor Hershel Layton.
Like the game, the anime is set in London and follows Katrielle as she solves mysteries with her talking dog Sherl. The first episode's story centers on Simon Wright, an Englishman with a wife and two daughters, and who has moved in with his family to their recently purchased house. But when Simon's wife and daughters disappear, he turns to the Layton Mystery Detective Agency for help.
Other cast members include:
- Kana Hanazawa (Infini-T Force's Belle Lynn, March comes in like a lion's Hinata Kawamoto) as Katrielle (Kasumi Arimura voiced the character in the game)
- Juurouta Kosugi as Sherl (replacing Kōji Yakusho)
- Kyousuke Ikeda as Noah Montoir (replacing Kentarō Sakaguchi, the character name is Ernest Greeves in the English version)
- Youhei Tadano as Darjeeling Aspoirot (replacing Hajime Inoue, the character name is Ercule Hastings in the English version)
- Hibiku Yamamura as Geraldine Royer (Emiliana Perfetti in the English version)
- Singer and actor Tsubasa Imai as Simon in a guest role in the show's first episode
- Kouichi Yamadera as Professor Layton/Hershel Layton
- Manami Miyaji as Ura Brames, a guest role in the show's sixth episode
Kana Adachi performs the opening theme song "Change!" and Hanazawa performs the ending theme song "Daijōbu." Noriyuki Makihara wrote and composed the ending theme.
Level 5 CEO Akihiro Hino (creative producer for Yōkai Watch, Time Bokan 24) is the creative director, and he is also credited with the original concept and series composition. Susumu Mitsunaka (Haikyu!!, Cuticle Detective Inaba) is directing the series at LIDEN FILMS (The Heroic Legend of Arslan, Terra Formars). Yoko Takada (key animation for The Heroic Legend of Arslan: Dust Storm Dance, Inuyasha) is designing the characters based on Takuzō Nagano's original designs.
