Tales of Rays Smartphone Game Ends Service in English
posted on by Karen Ressler
The official website for the Tales of Rays smartphone game announced last week that the English version of the game will end service on May 29 at 11:00 p.m. EDT. The official Japanese website has not made a similar announcement.
The game has already disabled purchase of its Mirrogem in-game currency. All items may be used until the last day.
Tales of the Rays stars new characters Ickx Neve (voiced by Natsuki Hanae) and Mileena Weiss (Haruka Terui) along with a cast of returning characters from other Tales of games. Hidenori Matsubara (Sakura Wars, In This Corner of the World) designed the characters and Takumi Miyajima (Tales of Symphonia, Tales of the Abyss) wrote the scenario. Wit Studio animated the opening theme, sequence and Alexandros performed the opening song "New Wall."
The game launched for iOS and Android devices in Japan in February 2017. Bandai Namco Entertainment America released the game in English later the same year.
The Tales of game franchise has inspired multiple crossover smartphone games featuring characters from its main titles. Bandai Namco released its Tales of Asteria and Tales of Link games in 2014, and Bandai Namco also released the Tales of Link smartphone game in March 2014, and ended service on Tales of Link last month. Tales of Link had an English release in 2016.
