The official website of the VFX-Japan Awards announced the winners for its Best Award for each of its eight categories. The VFX-Japan Awards announced the winners at a ceremony at Akihabara UDX on March 8.

- Animated Theatrical Film Category: Blame!
- Television Program VFX Category: Hiyokko film credits
- Television Anime CG Category: Land of the Lustrous
- Game Category: Gran Turismo Sport
- Commercial and Promotional Video Category: Shinkansen Year 2017 "Shiki o Hashiru Shinkansen" commercial
- Short Film Category: "Blade Runner: Black Out 2022"
- Leading-Edge Visual Effects Category: 67th Kōhaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Battle) Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office's Live Relay Broadcast
The awards announced the nominees on February 5. The VFX-Japan Awards recognize creations in live-action film, video games, commercials, animated film, TV, and events that excel in the use of CG and VFX.
