A live-action film adaptation of Arako Toaru's Bijin ga Kon Katsu Shite Mitara (When a beautiful woman tries joining marriage hunting.) manga has been green-lit for 2019. Mei Kurokawa will play the lead part. Akiko Ōku is directing the film, while Jirō from comedy duo Sissonne will pen the script.
Toaru based the slapstick romantic comedy manga's story on real stories from a friend in her 30s. The story centers on Takako, a beautiful and professionally successful woman who has recently ended a very serious romance, and has burned out on seeking love. However, when Takako realizes that she is already in her 30s, she suddenly decides to get married, and begins registering on dating sites.
Toaru has been serializing the manga in the V Comi web manga app since July 2016, and it has consistently topped the app's popularity ranking. Shogakukan Creative published the manga's first compiled book volume last May.
