Okaa-san to Issho Children's Program Gets 1st Film With Anime Segment

NHK announced on Thursday that its long-running children's program Okaa-san to Issho (With Mother) is getting its first film adaptation on September 7. The film is titled Eiga Okaa-san to Issho - Hajimete no Daibōken (With Mother The Movie - The First Great Adventure). The "Galapica Poo" puppet segment of the program and its characters Cholome, Moomoo, and Galapico will appear as anime characters (seen below) in an anime segment within the film.
The film will combine live-action and anime segments, as well as songs, physical exercises, dancing, and games. The film will star the show's current hosts Yūichirō Hanada as Uta no Onii-san, Atsuko Ono as Uta no Onee-san, Yoshihisa Kobayashi as Taisō no Onii-san, and Risa Uehara as Panto! no Onee-san.
The movie celebrates the program's 60th year on air since NHK Educational premiered the program in October 1959.
