The website also announced that the manga will get a premiere event in Tokyo on January 6. Sayumi Watabe, Hiroaki Hirata, Emi Miyajima, and Haruka Fukuhara will attend the event for a cast talk.
The anime will star:
Sayumi Watabe as Akira Tachibana, 17 years old. She is a second-year high school student who is bad at expressing her emotions, and is usually calm and collected. She was once the ace of her track-and-field club, but after an injury she quit running, and now works part time at the family restaurant Garden.
Hiroaki Hirata as Masami Kondo, 45 years old. He is the manager of the family restaurant Garden. He is separated from his wife, and he has a son.
Emi Miyajima as Haruka Kyan, 17 years old. She is Akira's close friend and a member of the track-and-field club. She was somehow related to Akira's injury, and she worries about Akira after Akira quit running. She hopes that their friendship can return to what it once was.
Haruka Fukuhara as Yui Nishida, 17 years old. She is Akira's fellow part-time worker at Garden. She's bright and loves to chat, and she loves cute things.
The anime will premiere on January 11 in the Noitamina programming block on Fuji TV and other channels. The show will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video inside and outside of Japan.
Ayumu Watanabe (Space Brothers, Mysterious Girlfriend X, Gurazeni, Ace Attorney) is directing the series at Wit Studio. Deko Akao (First Love Monster, Noragami, Snow White with the Red Hair) is handling the series composition, Yuka Shibata (Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season, Magical Sisters Yoyo & Nene) is the character designer and chief animation director, and Ryo Yoshimata (Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children) is composing the music. Aimer (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, No. 6, Terror in Resonance) is performing the show's ending theme song "Ref:rain."
The manga centers on 17-year-old high school student Akira Tachibana, a girl who barely expresses herself. She harbors a secret crush on Masami Kondō, the 45-year-old manager of the family restaurant she works at part-time.
Mayuzuki launched the manga in Shogakukan's Monthly Big Comic Spirits in 2014, before it transferred to Weekly Big Comic Spirits in early 2016, where it serializes a new chapter every other week. Shogakukan published the manga's ninth volume on November 10. The manga has 1.7 million copies in print.
The manga is also inspiring a live-action film that will open in Japan on May 25 and an illustration collection book that will ship on February 9. The book will also contain information on the making of the anime, with interviews and setting designs.
