Crow's Blood Live-Action Horror Mini-Series to Air in U.S.

Hulu Japan series produced by Saw's Lynn Bousman, AKB48's Yasushi Akimoto premiered July 2016 in Japan

El Rey Network will air the English-language premiere of the Crow's Blood original mini-series. The six-part series will air in a marathon on October 28 from 6:00 p.m. to midnight EDT. It will then be available in English and in Japanese with English subtitles on the network's video-on-demand service on October 29.

The series premiered on Hulu Japan in July 2016.

AKB48 member Mayu Watanabe (right in picture below) and HKT48 member Sakura Miyawaki (left) star in the series. Watanabe plays Kaori Isozaki, a kind-hearted high school student, while Miyawaki plays Maki Togawa, a mysterious and unsociable transfer student. Executive producer Darren Lynn Bousman (director and writer of Saw II, III, IV) said that the series' tone borrows from both Western and American films as well as Japanese horror.

Hulu Japan describes the story:

20 years have passed since the first clone sheep Dolly was born. With regenerative medical techniques evolutionally advancing over those years, regeneration of human organs, which was thought to be impossible, has become a reality. While regeneration offers a broad range of possibilities, human beings are now trying to play God, to “re-create life.” When we lose someone we love, are we allowed to regenerate their life or even bodies?

Ryō Nishimura directed the series, and American director of photography Joseph White co-directed the first, second, and final episodes. AKB48, Nogizaka46, and 22/7 producer Yasushi Akimoto is credited as the series creator and producer.
