posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Dark Horse Comics announced on Monday that it will release Square Enix and Studio BentStuff's Final Fantasy 25th Memorial Ultimania books in English. The company will release the first book under the title Final Fantasy Ultimania Archive Volume 1 on June 5, 2018.
Dark Horse describes the book:
This holy grail of Final Fantasy fandom is packed full of original concept art, process pieces, and notes from the original artists and designers chronicling the creation of these timeless games. Containing a total of over three hundred pages collected in a high-quality hard-cover binding, Final Fantasy Ultimania Archive Volume 1 remains faithful to its original Japanese source material while simultaneously offering unparalleled accessibility for Western readers. No Final Fantasy collection is complete without this beautiful tome of art, lore, and history.
Square Enix released the three volumes of the Final Fantasy 25th Memorial Ultimania book series in 2012 as part of its series of game companion books. Volume 1 covers the first six role-playing games in the Final Fantasy series. Volume 2 covers Final Fantasy VII to Final Fantasy IX, and Volume 3 covers Final Fantasy X to Final Fantasy XIV.
Dark Horse announced in August that it will release Yoshitaka Amano—Beyond the Fantasy: The Illustrated Biography (Yoshitaka Amano Biography Officielle—Au-delà de la fantasy), Florent Gorges' biography of artist Yoshitaka Amano, in English. The book includes content on Amano's contributions to the Final Fantasy series.
