Terra Battle 2 Staff Apologizes for Changes in Recent Game Update
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Game developer Mistwalker posted a Japanese video (with English subtitles) of Terra Battle 2 producer Hironobu Sakaguchi, executive producer Noriaki Kawahara, and game director Toru Kunihara explaining the recent emergency maintenance to the game. They apologized to those affected by the recent change in mechanics and in-game currency, and promised a refund in items.
The recent maintenance and update that changed some of the mechanics and balance is the second update in the game since it launched in Japan and North America on September 21. The game also had an emergency update during its launch day.
Aside from the iOS and Android versions of the game, it is also launching on PC at an unspecified later date.
Sakaguchi introduced Terra Battle 2 alongside the Terra Wars game, both for iOS, Android, and PC. The games are part of his new "Terra World" franchise, which will have a similar numbering system to Final Fantasy. "Each installment of the 'Terra' franchise will have its disctinct feel, unique from any other," Sakaguchi wrote in a message on the Terra Battle 2 website. "I (secretly) wish to expand the "Terra World" and create 9 experiences. (As I have created 9 installments for the Final Fantasy series.)"
Silicon Studio (Bravely Default) is developing the game and Sakaguchi is serving as producer. Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy) composed the music and Mistwalker's Kimihiko Fujisaka is the lead character designer.
The game will have the same core battle mechanics as the original Terra Battle RPG, but with redesigned gameplay and a new world map and story. It will be free to play with in-app purchases.
The original Terra Battle smartphone RPG launched in October 2014. The game has been downloaded more than 2.7 million times. More artists will join the project with more downloads.
