The official website for Nippon Ichi Software's Refrain no Chika Meikyū to Majo no Ryodan (Coven and Labyrinth of Refrain) game began streaming a promotional video for the game's PlayStation 4 version on Thursday. The video previews the gameplay, outlining the game's exploratory elements and the various types of puppet minions that players can create and command.
The game is slated for release on the PS4 in Japan on September 28. Nippon Ichi Software released the game on the PlayStation Vita in June 2016.
The game is set in a town called Refrain, which has a labyrinth that defies all efforts at human exploration due to a curse where humans cannot survive for more than an hour. Legends about what lie within promise great treasures, the secret to eternal life, or the lair of a villain, but no one knows if any of them are real. One day, a witch named Baba Yaga arrives at the town, and offers to explore the labyrinth. For this she uses a sentient book named Yōro Rekitei (whose role the player takes), and crafts puppet minions to brave the dangers of the labyrinth.
In the game, players create puppet minions from six different character classes or "Facets," which offer different abilities for each puppet. Players group puppets into an adventuring party called a "Coven," which they use to explore the labyrinth and fight monsters in a first-person perspective.
