The September issue of Shonengahosha's Young King Ours magazine revealed on July 29 that Atsuko Ishida is launching a new comedy manga titled Zasetsu Otoko to Manga Shōjo (The Loser Guy and the Manga Girl) in the magazine's October issue on August 30. The first chapter will have a color opening page.
The manga's story centers on Akari Tōge, a third-year high school student who lives in Hiroshima. Akari is aiming to become a manga creator. She dislikes her homeroom teacher Daisuke Konaka, who has the nickname “Crusher.”
Ishida works as both an animator and manga creator. She provided the character designs for such anime as The Brave Express Might Gaine, The Brave Police J-Decker, Magic Knight Rayearth, Platinumhugen Ordian, and Shin Hakkenden. She has drawn manga such as Anime ga Oshigoto (pictured at right), Hero Meshi, and Mahō Shōnen Majorian. Ishida founded Studio G-1 with her then-husband Masami Ōbari.
