posted on by Rai Kelly
DreamWorks began streaming a new trailer on Tuesday for the third season of DreamWorks Voltron: Legendary Defender. The trailer showcases the third season's story and introduces the antagonist Prince Lotor, voiced by A.J. Locascio.
The third season will premiere on Netflix on August 4 and will consist of seven episodes. DreamWorks describes the third season:
In the wake of Zarkon's defeat and Shiro's disappearance, the paladins struggle to move forward with no one able to pilot the black lion or the ability to form Voltron. The team must quickly devise a plan as the ascension of Prince Lotor and his generals pulls the team into a perilous game of cat-and-mouse that tests their unity and abilities more than ever before.
The fourth season is set to premiere in October of this year.
The 13-episode second season premiered on Netflix on January 20. The show's 11-episode first season premiered on Netflix in June 2016, and features the following voice cast:
- Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) as Keith
- Jeremy Shada (Adventure Time) as Lance
- Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow) as Pidge
- Josh Keaton (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) as Shiro (formerly "Sven")
- Tyler Labine (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) as Hunk
- Kimberly Brooks (Mass Effect) as Princess Allura
- Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) as Coran
- Neil Kaplan (Transformers: Robots in Disguise) as King Zarkon
The character known as Sven in the first Voltron television series was originally named Takashi Shirogane in King of Beasts Golion, the original anime series that was adapted as Voltron.
Studio Mir (The Legend of Korra) animated the first season. Joaquim Dos Santos, Lauren Montgomery, and Tim Hedrick all worked together on Avatar the Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.
Update: Prince Lotor's name spelling corrected. Thanks, Dannyhibiki, Cait, and SWAnimefan
