Transformers Voice Actor Wally Burr Passes Away

Voice actor and director Wally Burr passed away on July 9, after a 16-month struggle with a series of strokes. He was 93. His close family and friends are planning a memorial gathering in fall. His family and friends have posted several tributes on his website.
Burr was the voice director for such cartoons as Transformers, G.I. Joe, Jem, Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light, Inspector Gadget, Dino Riders, Captain Caveman, Dynomutt the Dog Wonder, and Spider-Man. He also voiced some roles, including Kremzeek in Transformers, as well as stepping in as the voice for Jazz, Ratchet, Seaspray, and Thundercracker in individual episodes when their respective voice actors were not available.
In anime, he was the voice director for Streamline's dub of Akira, and also voiced a minor character in the film. He also voiced a minor character in Streamline's dub of Crying Freeman, and also voiced Raoh in Streamline's dub of the Fist of the North Star anime film.
Burr served in the United States Army during the Second World War. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on June 4, 1942, two days after his 18th birthday. He served as a tank commander during the war, including during the D-Day Normandy landings.
