posted on by Rai Kelly
Anime streaming service HIDIVE announced on Friday that it will stream the English dub for the GATE anime and the GARO live-action series.
The GATE anime is currently available in Japanese with English subtitles in its entirety (24 episodes). The English dub will launch on June 30. The service will add new English-dubbed episodes in installments every Friday at 12:00 p.m. CT for premium members.
The first 12-episode season of GATE premiered in July 2015, and was followed by a second season in January 2016. Crunchyroll and Hulu are also streaming the full series with English subtitles. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime, and will release all 24 episodes on Blu-ray Disc, DVD, and Blu-ray Disc/DVD premium box set on July 11. Sentai Filmworks previously revealed the main dub cast.
There are currently four episodes of GARO available on HIDIVE in Japanese with English subtitles. New episodes will stream every Friday at 12:00 p.m. CT for members beginning on June 30. The stream is available in the United States and Canada.
The first 25-episode of the GARO live-action series premiered on October 7, 2005 and has spawned multiple live-action films and television series. Section 23's Kraken Releasing label announced last October that it licensed the series and plans to release the series on home video this year.
The Garo the Animation and Garo: Crimson Moon television anime aired in 2014 and 2015, respectively. FUNimation Entertainment streamed both series and released them on home video with English dubs. Garo: Divine Flame, a film sequel to Garo the Animation, opened in Japan in May 2016.
HIDIVE launched its beta version on Tuesday. The streaming service has acquired assets from Anime Network Online, which will cease operations following a limited transition period for subscriber migration. The Anime Network, Inc. will continue to operate its cable television and subscription video on demand services.
HIDIVE currently offers an ad-supported free membership, but English dubs, exclusive titles, uncensored content, subtitle style options, and HD video are only available for subscribers. Membership will cost US$3.99 per month for a limited time as an introductory price, and a seven-day free trial is available. Subscribers can add up to two simultaneous streams for US$1 each.
