Shueisha announced on Friday that the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga and anime franchise is getting a second novel that will ship on July 4. The novel will be the second installment in the "Academy chapter" of the franchise that centers on Boruto entering the ninja academy along with Sarada, Shikadai, Inojin, and Chōchō to face a coming threat to their school life.
Kō Shigenobu (F.E.A.R., Tenka Ryōran RPGs) is returning to write the novel. Masashi Kishimoto, the original creator of the Naruto manga, is credited for the original work alongside Boruto manga artist Mikie Ikemoto and writer Ukyō Kodachi.
The first novel in the series shipped on May 2.
Kodachi and Ikemoto launched the Boruto manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in May 2016, based on and as a sequel to Kishimoto's Naruto manga. Boruto's titular main character is the protagonist of the Boruto -Naruto the Movie- anime film. The Boruto: Naruto Next Generations television anime series premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo on April 5. Viz Media is simulcasting the series on Hulu as it airs in Japan, with new episodes every Wednesday. Crunchyroll is also streaming the anime.
