Kodansha Comics announced on Tuesday that it will release Daruma Matsuura's Kasane, Mao Nanami's Real Girl (3D Kanojo), and Chika's This Is a Love Story (Kore wa Koi no Hanashi) shōjo manga digitally on May 30.
In Kasane, the title character is an ugly girl who is severely bullied by her classmates because of her appearance. Kasane's beautiful late mother bequeathed her one tube of lipstick, and that lipstick changes Kasane's fate in a big way.
Matsuura launched the ongoing series in Kodansha's Evening magazine in April 2013, and Kodansha published the 10th compiled volume on December 22. The manga was nominated for the Kodansha Manga Awards and the Manga Taisho Award in 2015.
Real Girl follows Hikari Tsutsui, a high school boy who is satisfied with the virtual girls he encounters in anime and games. He does not have many friends and he lives in his own world. One day, when he is stuck on pool cleaning duty, he is approached by Iroha, a "real girl" who is showy and popular with boys.
The manga ran in Kodansha's Dessert magazine from July 2011 to May 2016, and Kodansha published the series in 12 compiled volumes.
This Is a Love Story follows 31-year-old novelist Shinichi, who is in a slump when a cat and a 10-year-old girl named Haruka show up at his house. His editor and childhood friend suggests he use Haruka as a model for his novel about love.
The manga ran in Kodansha's Aria magazine from July 2010 to May 2014, and Kodansha published the series in 11 compiled volumes. The series was nominated for the Kodansha Manga Awards in 2014.
