Kadokawa began streaming a promotional video the television anime adaptation of author Syohgo Kinugasa and illustrator Shunsaku Tomose's Yōkoso Jitsuryoku Shijō Shugi no Kyōshitsu e (Welcome to the Classroom of the Supreme Ability Doctrine or "Yō Jitsu") light novel series on Friday. The video includes art from the novels.
Seiji Kishi (Assassination Classroom, Persona 4 The Animation, Yuki Yuna Is a Hero) and Hiroyuki Hashimoto (Magical Girl Raising Project, both seasons of Is the order a rabbit?) are directing the series at studio Lerche. Aoi Akashiro (Fuuka, KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!!) is handling the series composition, and Kazuaki Morita (Tsuki ga Kirei, Danganronpa The Animation, Assassination Classroom) is designing the characters.
The series will premiere in July.
Kadokawa's Media Factory Bunko J imprint published the first light novel in May 2015. Kadokawa created two animated ads for the novel to commemorate the release (the videos are no longer available). Kadokawa published the novel's fifth volume on January 25, and the sixth will ship on May 25.
The light novel's story takes place at Kōdo Ikusei Senior High School, a leading prestigious school with state-of-the-art facilities where nearly 100% of students go on to university or find employment. The students there have the freedom to wear any hairstyle and bring any personal effects they desire. Kōdo Ikusei is a paradise-like school, but the truth is that only the most superior of students receive favorable treatment.
The protagonist Kiyotaka Ayanokōji is a student of D-class, which is where the school dumps its "inferior" students in order to ridicule them. For a certain reason, Kiyotaka was careless on his entrance examination, and was put in D-class. After meeting Suzune Horikita and Kikyō Kushida, two other students in his class, Kiyotaka's situation begins to change.
Yuyu Ichino began publishing a manga adaptation in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Alive magazine in early 2016, and Kadokawa published the manga's third volume on March 23.
