Funimation Streams English-Dubbed Trailer for Hyouka Anime

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

Funimation began streaming a trailer on Thursday for its home video release of the Hyou-ka anime. The video previews the anime's English dub.

Funimation also revealed the anime's English dub cast. The cast, with ADR directors Mike McFarland and Cris George, and ADR writers Emily Neves and Bonny Clinkenbeard, include:

Funimation will release the entire 22-episode series and an OVA for the anime. The first part will ship on home video on July 4 and will include episodes 1-11 plus episode 11.5.

Kyoto Animation's 22-episode television anime premiered in 2012. Yasuhiro Takemoto (Amagi Brilliant Park, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu) directed the anime, Shoji Gatoh (Full Metal Panic!) handled series composition, Futoshi Nishiya (Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club, A Silent Voice) designed the characters, and Kōhei Tanaka (Onihei, The Laughing Salesman) composed the music.

The story follows a boy named Hōtarō who is not assertive about getting involved, but was ordered by his older sister to join the classic literature club. In the club, he gets close to the truth about an incident, involving a female member's uncle, which happened 33 years ago. The "energy-saving" boy is joined by an inquisitive girl in this adolescent mystery.

The anime has not previously been released in North America.

Honobu Yonezawa's original mystery novel from 2001 also inspired a manga adaptation in Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine. A live-action film adaptation starring Kento Yamazaki and Alice Hirose will open in Japan this year.
