The June issue of Kodansha's Afternoon magazine revealed on Tuesday that Riichi Ueshiba will launch a new manga titled Ōkumo-chan Flashback in the magazine's next issue on May 25. The manga will have four color pages and will appear on the magazine's front cover.
The manga will center on first-year high school student Minoru Suzuki, who sometimes sees visions of his own mother's past as a high school student.
Ueshiba began his Mysterious Girlfriend X manga in Afternoon magazine in 2006 and ended the series in September 2014. Kodansha published 12 compiled book volumes for the series. The manga inspired a television anime adaptation in 2012. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks licensed and released the series in North America. Crunchyroll distributed the manga in English digitally. Vertical is releasing the manga physically in omnibus volumes, and shipped the fifth omnibus volume on March 14.
