Elex Media Licenses Tomodachi Game, Horimiya Manga
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Indonesian publisher Elex Media Komputindo announced last Thursday that it has licensed Yuki Satō's Tomodachi Game and Daisuke Hagiwara's Horimiya manga. The company will ship the first volume of Tomodachi Game on May 10, while the first volume of Horimiya is scheduled sometime between May and June.
Tomodachi Game's story, based on Mikoto Yamaguchi's original concept, centers on Yūichi Katagiri, a young man with a perfect student life who has four friends with difficult lives. His peaceful daily life comes to an end when 2 million yen (about US$20,000) in school trip fees goes missing. Riddles unfold as Yūichi gets caught up in a mysterious game for money and must decide whether friendship or money matters more.
Sato (Sherlock Bones) launched the Tomodachi Game manga in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in December 2013. The eighth compiled volume shipped in December.
In Horimiya's story, Hori is the most popular and gorgeous girl at school, while Miyamura is an introverted, eyeglasses-wearing boy. However, both find out that their appearances at school are not as they seem, as it turns out that Hori is a laid-back family girl, and Miyamura is a handsome young man covered in piercings and tattoos.
Hagiwara launched the manga in Square Enix's Monthly G Fantasy in 2011 as a spinoff to HERO's Hori-san to Miyamura-kun four-panel school comedy manga. The original manga has inspired three OVA adaptations. Square Enix shipped Horimiya's 10th compiled book volume in November.
