Ichi-F Manga About Worker in Fukushima Nuclear Plant Listed With English Edition
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Amazon is listing an English edition of Kazuto Tatsuta's ICHIEFU: Fukushima Daiichi Genshiryoku Hatsudensho Rōdōki with the English title of Ichi-F: A Worker's Graphic Memoir of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant. The listing indicates Kodansha Comics as the publisher, with a release date of March 7, 2017. While the listing shows the cover of the third Japanese compiled book volume, the title does not indicate a volume number.
The manga chronicles the author's experiences as a former laborer at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant after the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The "Ichi-F" or "1F" in the title stands for the numerical designation for the Fukushima plant.
The manga's official Facebook page posted an excerpt of the manga's first chapter in English in 2014.
Tatsuta published a one-shot version of the manga as his entry in the 2013 “34th Manga Open,” a competition that Kodansha's Morning magazine organized to find new talent. After winning the grand prize, the one-shot was published in Morning magazine, which received wide public attention. Tatsuta launched a serialized series in Morning in November 2013, and ended it last September. Kodansha published the manga's third and final volume last October.
Kodansha Comics did not respond to ANN's request for confirmation by press time.
