The May issue of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine revealed on Monday that the live-action film adaptation of Usamaru Furuya's Teiichi no Kuni (Teiichi's Country) manga has cast Masaki Suda (seen right) as the protagonist Teiichi Akaba.
Furuya also published the final chapter of the manga in the same issue. He had previously announced earlier this year that he would end the manga within the year.
The manga's story follows the high school student Teiichi Akaba and his student government struggles at a private boys' school in Shōwa-era Japan.
Furuya launched Teiichi no Kuni (Teiichi's Country) in the inaugural issue of Jump SQ. 19 in May 2010, but moved the manga to the main Jump Square magazine in its March 2012 issue. Shueisha shipped the 13th compiled book volume on January 4, and the 14th and final volume will ship on May 2.
The manga has already inspired three stage plays, with the latest stage play, "Saishūshō" Gakuran Kageki: Teiichi no Kuni -Kessen no Last Dance- ("Final Chapter" School Uniform Opera: Teiichi's Country -Bloody Battle's Last Dance-), running in Tokyo from March 17 to March 27.
