North American manga publisher Seven Seas Entertainment announced on Monday that it has licensed Haruyoshi Kobayakawa's manga series Re:Monster. The company plans to release the first single volume on November 8.
The manga is based on Kogitsune Kanekiru's light novel series, which was initially published online. AlphaPolis published the first compiled book in 2012 and the seventh volume in December. Yamaada illustrates the novels. AlphaPolis serializes the ongoing manga adaptation monthly on its website, and released the second compiled volume of the manga on December 31.
The series also inspired a smartphone game of the same name where players take on the role of a goblin. The game launched on Android on February 15 and iOS on February 18. As of Wednesday the app has more that 100,000 downloads.
Seven Seas describes the story:
Tomokui Kanata has suffered an early death, but his adventures are far from over. He is reborn into a fantastical world of swords and magic-- as a lowly goblin! Not content to let this stop him, the now renamed “Rou” uses his new physical abilities and his old memories to plow ahead in a world where consuming other creatures allows him to acquire their strengths and powers.
